CUFA Pakistan Relief Fund
CUFA has established the Pakistan Credit Union Flood Relief Appeal to assist credit unions and members in that devastated country.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs recently stated that the scale of destruction from Pakistan’s monsoon flooding in July and August of 2010 surpassed the devastation from the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 northern Pakistan earthquake, and the 2010 Haiti earthquake combined.
An estimated 20 million people have been affected. The floods that began more than two weeks ago in Pakistan's mountainous northwest have now hit about one-quarter of the country, especially its agricultural heartland. While the death toll of 1,500 is relatively small, the scale of the flooding and number of people whose lives have been disrupted is staggering.
CUFA Pakistan Credit Union Flood Appeal contributions will go towards helping Pakistan Catholic Social Services provide relief and rehabilitation in Karachi and the Sindh Province.
All contributions over two dollars are tax deductible.
You can donate online through the CUFA website, or send a cheque payable to Credit Union Foundation Australia, for the CUFA Pakistan Credit Union Flood Relief Appeal, to GPO Box 4720, Sydney NSW 2001 - please enclose your full name, address details and an email address for prompt contribution receipting.
100% of funds transfer and cheque/money order contributions, and net online contributions will be directed weekly to the Pakistan Catholic Social Services.
