We were established in 1954 and are a "non-profit oriented cooperative". Which simply means we see more to life than making money and charging members high fees and charges.

Laboratories Credit Union Ltd was established in 1954 by the CSIRO staff in NSW.

Our membership now extends well beyond CSIRO staff and their families. We welcome membership  from many different people, working in many different fields.  To enquire about membership please contact our office.

At LCU it’s all about you because as a member you are both a shareholder and a customer.

Naturally we have to operate successfully to add to our strength and security, but we don't have to pay shareholders who are only interested in dividends. We are owned by our Members.

For added security LCU has a policy of maintaining capital adequacy well in excess of the statutory level. Currently our funds under management stand at over $90 million.
