2011 Scholarship Winners
On Friday 18th February, LCU hosted a lunch where the Mayor of Ryde Cr Artin Etmekdjian and Mr Don Pendergast a retired LCU director, presented the 2011 Tertiary Scholarship awards to seven of the winners.
This is a special year for the Scholarship program as it is the 20th Anniversary of when LCU commenced presenting these awards. The Scholarship program was the brain child of Mr Don Pendergast a director of LCU. Mr Pendergast felt that LCU should give something back to it's younger members and what better way than by acknowledging their education achievements.
LCU offered eight $800 scholarships for students who had completed their 2010 HSC and have been accepted into an Australian University. We also offered four scholarships for students who completed a Diploma course or Trade Certificate in 2010.
To be eligible to apply for one of these scholarships applicants must have been an active member of LCU or the child or grandchild of an active member. Membership must have commenced prior to 31st July 2010.
The standard of applications this year was extremely high.
